Hi.  Some of our users have complained that their apps were crashing on their iPhones and iPod Touches running iOS4.  The reason has to do with the new multitasking capability that Apple has built in to iOS4.  Basically what it does is allow apps, or certain “active parts” of apps, to remain in memory even when you have closed the app and opened another one. That allows them your app to start up almost instantaneously and also to switch quickly between apps (just double-tap on the “home” button).  It’s a very cool feature. But sometimes your various “active” apps bump up against each other and cause each other to crash.

There’s an easy solution.

Double-tap on your “Home” button to pull up the “fast switch” view.  Then tap and hold on any icon in the list.   You will see that each of them has a “delete” badge on the left side, and they are all wiggling.

Just tap on any number of these apps that you do not need to have running at the moment. This frees up memory for your more active applications to use.

Done!
