slider_iBookWe are excited to announce the publication of our first iBook, “Have A Smart Day!”  Get it now.  Here is the description from the iBook store:

“Have A Smart Day” is a visual guide to the SmartDay system of time management by Left Coast Logic, based upon the belief that if you can actually see your entire agenda in one integrated view – including tasks, events, and notes – then you can better organize your day.  The company’s first productivity tool, SmartTime™, has over 1 million downloads.  The book is designed as a manual for the company’s family of productivity tools but includes information that will help anyone become more productive. A web-based organizer using the same features described in this book, will be available for free in the very near future.

The book includes chapters on improving your productivity, as well as specific chapters on how to use our iPhone and Mac versions of SmartDay.   Here are the chapters and a short synopsis:

Chapter One
A Declaration of Time Management
We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all actions require Time, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Qualities, that among these are scheduled Events, unscheduled Tasks (which need scheduling), and Notes (which need relating)…That to secure these Qualities, certain Software is created by people of various degrees of enlightenment, deriving their sales from the consent of Creatives such as you…That whenever any form of Software becomes destructive to true organization and efficiency, it is the Right of Creatives to alter or abolish it, and to acquire new Software, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing itself based upon those Qualities most likely to effect their Efficiency, Organization, and Happiness.

Chapter Two
The Integrated Calendar

The truly integrated calendar contains not just scheduled Events, but also Tasks arranged into the free time between Events, with all related Notes.  All should be easily visible together, with other informative items such as a Month planner and one’s intended working hours for that day.

Chapter Three
The Smart Task List

The Smart Task list is also dynamic: It should show all of your tasks, both individual as well as tasks from your longer term Projects; it should also provide simple and efficient ways to filter and sort those Tasks so that they can be efficiently scheduled into the Integrated Calendar.

Chapter Four
The Connected Note

Every great idea was, at some point, jotted down. Then, a connection was made. Perhaps to another idea. Perhaps to a follow-up or even a plan. Notes are the seeds of creativity. They can survive on their own for a short time, but at some point they need to be connected. Just like the rest of us.

Chapter Five
The Well-Managed Project

Projects don’t exist in a vacuum; they need to be fit into everything else we have going on, including our appointments and daily tasks. To manage a Project effectively, we must allocate time for its component tasks, while monitoring progress from a higher level.

Chapter Six
Who Are You?

SmartDay is flexible. You can use it as a calendar. You can use it as a task list. You  can use it for both, separately. You can integrate them. You can use notes separately, or linked to your appointments and tasks.  This chapter gives some tips about how to use SmartDay to more effectively manage your time, based upon who you are and how your typical day looks.

Chapter Seven
Organizing Your Mac

We designed our flexible system of adaptively scheduling tasks into the free time in your day, to work on any device.  This chapter outlines how you can use SmartDay for on your home and office Macs, then take your information with you on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.
