Time and Log Anything

Did you ever wish you had a way to keep track of the time you are spending on something? Maybe a phone call, or an exercise routine, or a meeting?  And wouldn’t you like to be able to record and log that time, so you can have a record?  And wouldn’t it be nice if you could export that record to a Spreadsheet, or email it to someone else?

These are all possible with the Time Logger feature of SmartPlans. Actually, the Time Logger is the core to SmartPlans; everything else is built around it. But you can use it stand-alone.  Here’s how.

1) Tap the Time Logger

  • Do this from any view, at any time.
  • You do not have to have a Task or Project Plan highlighted. Time Logger automatically creates a new Task for you, and a new Project Plan as well.

2) Edit while you Time

Notice how SmartPlans automatically created a new Project category for you. That’s because you didn’t select one when you started. If you already have another Project category that you would like your Task to be associated with, you can change it at any time.  Or if you want to keep the new Project category that SmartPlans created for you, you can give it a new name…

3) Take Notes while you talk!

If you are logging a call, it would make sense for you to take notes. Of course, you can do that on a pad of paper. Or you can record it right inside the ToDo that SmartPlans automatically creates for you.  Note that if you are on your iPhone and you get a call, you can switch to SmartPlans and write notes at the same time.

4) Instant Recall

SmartPlans has automatically set up a new Freestyle Plan for you, to log your calls from Bill. Next time he calls, you can go in and look to see…

  • When was the last time he called?
  • What did we discuss during that call?

Looks like SmartPlans is acting like a contact manager now…
