SmartCal

Hey, what about SmartCal?  SmartPad syncs directly with mySmartDay.com, and so does the new Mac organizer, SmartDay Mac.  So, what about SmartCal?

SmartCal has the same features as SmartPad and SmartDay Mac. We are working on a completely new version that incorporates the design aesthetic, new drag-and-drop connections, new integrated notes, and another unique feature called “Must Do.” More on that later.

In the meantime, you can connect SmartCal to mySmartDay indirectly.  Here’s how:

Syncing Events to mySmartDay

Just sync Events in SmartCal with your iPhone Calendar.  Then connect your iPhone Calendar to either your iPad Calendar, or iCal on your Mac.  From there, either SmartPad or SmartDay Mac will sync onwards to mySmartDay.com.

There are two ways to connect your iPhone calendar to your iPad and Mac calendars.  You can do this directly by syncing with iTunes.  Or you can connect them using iCloud.  Note that before you can sync any third-party app (such as SmartCal or SmartPad) with iCloud, you have to follow these steps:

  1. Disable iCloud on your iPhone.
  2. Enable “From My iPhone” as a calendar group in your iPhone calendar (this should happen automatically when you disable iCloud).
  3. Sync SmartCal with your iPhone Calendar.
  4. Re-enable iCloud on your iPhone Calendar.
  5. Sync SmartCal with your iPhone Calendar again.

For more information about connecting to calendars using iCloud, see this blog post.

Syncing Tasks to mySmartDay

Because both SmartCal and SmartPad can sync tasks with Toodledo, you can share tasks between SmartCal and SmartPad. Then, because SmartPad syncs with mySmartDay, your SmartCal tasks can then be sync’d with mySmartDay and SmartDay Mac, via SmartPad.

In the near future, the new version of SmartCal – to be called SmartDay for iPhone – will sync directly with the mySmartDay Cloud hub.
