Good morning.  Long story short, I updated to OS 4, and the phone would not retrieve data....so I had to restore and create a new instance of my phone ;o(  Anyway I had to reinstall all my apps, and now smarttime will not sync.  When I set up my google calendars it sees them and I can map.  When I set my initial sync to google -> smartime the app starts to sync for about 10 seconds then exits to the OS......Help, lost without my smartime!!  I am on Smartime Pro 4.0.1 build 1007060200, Iphone OS 4.0.1

I have also uninstalled smartime and then reloaded from the app store, still no change.  Any ideas?

Hi cnjday,

Sounds like you are doing the right things.  I have 4.0.1 and no problems syncing with Google.  So I'm wondering if there might be something different with your data?  Try this:  set up a new calendar in Google.  Place two events in it.  Set up your sync in SmartTime to sync to only that one calendar.  Let's see how that works.

By the way, we have a very small number of people who have issues with Google sync.  For most people, it works fine.  So it bedevils us to figure out why there are these exception cases.  We are currently working on direct sync with the iPhone Calendar, which Apple made available to developers in iOS4.  Our beta testers will be testing this within two weeks.  We are cautiously optimistic that because we are using an Apple-enabled API, the exception cases will be minimized. On the other hand, direct sync with iPhone calendar will not be without its own peculiar issues. For example, third party apps cannot create calendars on iCal, they can only map to existing calendars. So you would have to create those calendars on iCal (on your computer), sync those down to your iPhone, then map SmartTime to those calendars. Also, the iPhone calendar has a funky way of handling time zone changes.

Thanks Michael....it was working fine until my iphone upgrade then all went down hill from there...

I personally love iOS4 and the new iPhone4.  It's just so much faster and I can switch in and out of SmartTime instantaneously, even with my full calendar loaded (no need to sync shorter time periods).

OK I isolated this to my work calendar, I will blow away my work calendar on google, then reset up and try that one.  After that I think it is a hunt and destroy to find the offending entry...
BTW I (unfortunately) have to use Lotus Notes, but I have figured out a way to make it work with google calendar and hence smartime.  It might help out your user base if any one is interested.

That's good to hear!  I'll forward this to our development team.  Before you hose your work calendar, you might give us access to it (on your Google account) and we can check the data to find out where the rogue entry was. This will also help us to avoid such problems in the future.  If you are amenable to this, let me know and we'll take it offline.

Sorry I already deleted and recreated by the time I saw your note.  FYI just an update.  I have blown away the calendar in google, then resync'd from Notes, still the same behaviour.  I then removed one by one the meetings from google, starting with the repeating ones (LN is sooo bad, it hoses repeating meetings all the time).  Tried to sync same behaviour.  Then I killed the calendar again, and recreated.  Created one event in Google, and sync'd worked fine.  So....it would appear something is amiss with the sync... More as I have time to figure it out.

Are there any special characters that I should be aware of that you know of issues?  Like reserved charaters for HTML?

Thanks

I'm having the same problem. Whenever I sync my calendar it thinks about it for 20 seconds then exits. I am using an iPhone 4.

Michael,

I have isolated it to events that are created in google calendar via a sync.  I use awesync.  I have eliminated all meetings except 2 meetings.  One created manually on google calendar, one created via sync.  When I have both it does not work, when I have only the manually created meeting it works, when I have only the sync created one then it does not work.

I have looked at the meeting created by the sync, The only difference between the two meetings is that the awesync sets it up as public as a default and the manual sets up as default.  I changed the meeting to default and it made no difference

.  It was working fine before OS 4, but that does not make sense...

Ideas?  Thanks in advance.

There must be something in awesync that SmartTime doesn't like then???

My suggestion is to contact customer support at LCL to send them and let them have access to your database.

Hello Michael,
I have the very same problem.
Sync starts then ST exits to Springboard.
I use the very same set of Google calendars than before, and had no problem before.
I still have no sync problem with others apps that also sync with Google calendars (ie. P Informant).
One thing is similar to cnjday : everything is sync two ways on my Mac to MobileMe and to Google via the BusySync technology (that I use for many years now and works in complete transparency without no problem ever).

Just had a chance to post back.  The problem turned out to be awesync.  For some reason it would appear that an upgrade of the IPhone OS from 3.x to 4.0 works fine, but if you have to restore your phone to OS4 vanilla, then reinstall your apps, the awesync software has something in the meeting that the new IPhone OS and Smart Time does not like...don't know which one.

Anyway Awesync 3.0.2 seems thus far to work fine with Lotus Notes -> (via Awesync) Google Cal <-> Smart Time

The only thing was the meeting type in google calendar the meeting type was public and not the "defaut"  in the privacy setting...

Just FYI

Hello Michael, just to tell you that the yesterday update works again perfectly.
I did not change anything in my workflow, but can again sync SmartTime with Google Calendars.
