How to re-install SmartDay and Find the iCal Calendars that Cause a Crash
Some iCal calendars may be causing SmartDay to crash. We are not sure of the cause, but if you follow these steps, you can find the “culprit” calendar, then decide whether or not to use it with SmartDay.
- Remove all non-local calendars from iCal (iCloud, CalDav, Exchange, Google, etc.)
- Backup the the remaining local calendars by right clicking on the calendar then choosing “export”.
- Delete those remaining local calendars so that iCal no longer has any calendars in it.
- open Terminal and type in these words: “chflags nohidden ~/Library” but without the ” ” markers. This will allow you to see some hidden files in Finder.
- In Finder go to your Home Folder -> Library -> Application Support -> com.leftcoastlogic.SmartDay, as shown here:
- Delete the folder “com.leftcoastlogic.SmartDay
- Re-open SmartDay and sync with iCal. It should now work fine.
- Gradually add your iCal calendars back in, one at a time. Start with your local iCal calendars. Then re-enable your CalDave and/or Exchange calendars. Then Google. Then finally re-enable your iCloud calendars.
- Let us know which calendars caused the issue for you.
