SmartDay for Mac OS X, version 1.0.3, has been submitted to the Mac App Store and should be approved this week!  This has many new features but the two key ones are highlighted here:

Two Huge New Features:
Hide Future, and Do Today

Hide Future Tasks

Don’t want to see a task that starts in the future?  Now, tasks will not show up in your task list until the day that they start.  And yes, you can have a separate due date.  For example:  “Shop for Christmas & Hanukkah gifts” starts the day after Thanksgiving, and ends on December 24th.  And don’t worry; you can always see all tasks regardless of when they start, in the Categories view.

Due Today is Do Now

All tasks can have a due date.  Now, if a task is due today, it automatically becomes a “Do Now” task.  What is “Do Now”?  This is a feature we added in 1.0.2, which automatically moves a task to the top of the list – and directly into today’s calendar, integrated with your appointments!  Now,  you’ll never “miss” a due task again. Ever. Any task that has a due date for today, will automatically float to the top of your list. Now that’s smart.

Naturally, these two features work together to make you more efficient with less stress. In the above example, you will see “Shop for Christmas & Hanukkah gifts” appear in your task list on the Friday after Thanksgiving.  If you don’t see it or can’t get to it because of everything else you have going on, it will automatically move to the top of your list – and directly into your calendar – on the date it’s due. You can also adjust the “do now” settings to move due items to the top two or more days before they are due.  But be warned: once a “do now” is moved to the top, it will persist in both your task list and in your calendar, until you either mark it as done, or change the deadline. But that’s a good thing, right?
