This is a new blog topic to let you know what we’re working on. We’ll mostly focus on the immediate stuff that our engineers are working on, but occasionally we’ll also whet your whistle with a few things that are still in the planning stages but pretty firm. A few proviso’s: (1) We reserve the right – and the probability – to turn on a dime and go in a completely different direction. (2) Timelines are “best guesses”, but sometimes end up completely pie-in-the-sky. Don’t look up!

We’ve also added a Forum Board called “In The Oven” so you can discuss what we’re working on.

So, here’s what we’re working on in April, hoping to deliver in the next few months:

SmartPad 2.1

  • Quick, automated, background sync for both Events (to iPad calendar) and Tasks (to Toodledo).
  • Option to show/hide Calendars & Projects (one tap from main view)

SmartTime 4.1

  • We will no longer support Google sync due to the frequent changes that they make to their sync library.  It’s just impossible for us to keep up. Instead, we will implement direct sync of Events to the iPhone calendar, and direct sync of Tasks to Toodledo – the same solution as we have for SmartCal.
  • Quick, automated, background sync for both Events and Tasks.

SmartCal 3

This is a pretty major upgrade with killer new features, so we’re going to give it a new number.  Look for these features to then be implemented in SmartPad 3 as well.

  • Extend the Day Manager to manage your entire Week! (Tasks will be slotted not only into the current day, but the next seven days.)
  • Customize your available working hours individually for each day of the week.
  • Pull-down Month view integrated right into the Day Calendar.  Think of the iPhone Calendar, but on steroids.  Use it for at-a-glance info, or for navigation, or for Full drag-and drop planning of your day, week and month. All from one view.
  • Pull-down Task Drawer shows details of all tasks that are due to Start, or End, on the selected day.  Drag and drop from the Task Drawer up into the pull-down month calendar, or down into the main Day calendar.
  • “Smart Sort” feature uses SmartTime™ logic to suggest when you should do which tasks, and in what order. Then you can over-ride manually.

SmartDay

We’re building up and out, to expand our offerings to the internet.  At build-out, SmartDay will offer online versions of our key apps, including SmartPad and SmartNotes, as well as a hub for synchronizing all of our apps from all of your devices. Following a design similar to the iPad versions of SmartPad and SmartNotes, it will offer our uniquely integrated Calendar, Task management, Project management, and Notes with attachments such as photos, video and voice.

  • Phase One is already running:  You can sync your SmartNotes data between any two devices, such as your iPhone and iPad, just by signing up for a free account.
  • Phase Two, in early beta, is an online version of SmartNotes.  Not only will you be able to sync notes between your devices, you can see all of those notes on SmartDay.  You can create new notes, edit them, and group – the same as on your iPhone or iPad.
