Why We are Different

Here on the Left Coast, we are not different just to be different. We are different to be Smarter.  That is the reason why we created this company in the first place: to help move software forward – beyond the days of static calendars and task lists, and into the realm of adaptive logic that actually does things to help you become more efficient.

It started with SmartTime™, the first productivity app ever – on any device – to integrate appointments and to do’s.  We achieved this by applying adaptive logic to the task of figuring out when you are going to do what.  In its first year, there were more than 1 million downloads of SmartTime™.  Now, we have begun work on a new version of SmartTime that will change the way you look at calendars forever.  It should be ready in time for Back to School.

We then introduced SmartNotes, the first drag-and-drop notes tool. Create a note, photo, or voice note. Drag one on top of another to create folders of notes, for easy organization.  SmartNotes hit #1 in the business category of the App Store last year. Recently, we just brought SmartNotes to the web.  Now, using the sCloud (yes, the “s” stands for “smart”),  you can keep all of your SmartNotes items up to date and synchronized between your iPhone, iPad, as well as your Home and Work computers.

After SmartNotes we created SmartCal for iPhone – a truly integrated calendar and planner for tasks, events, projects and even lists. In addition to integrating appointments and to do’s – like SmartTime – SmartCal also gives you complete control over how long you work and what you can get done during that time. There is no productivity tool like it. We are just days away from releasing SmartCal3 with the incredible Thumb Planner.  Now you can plan – and manage – your entire week, just with your thumb.  Fingers optional.  See the video here.

Then the iPad came out. While everyone else was porting their tired old calendars and task list apps to iPad, we built a new one from the ground up – SmartPad.  Building on the patented logic of SmartTime™ and on the day management feature of SmartCal, we decided to take it to the next level by integrating Notes into everything you do. With SmartPad, you can take notes associated with any day – then, by highlighting any of the words in the note, you can create linked follow-ups, appointments, and reminders.  Tap on any linked reminder to see a list of all other follow-ups as well as a link to the original note.  Our next version of SmartPad, which has already been submitted to the App Store, includes automatic background sync of both Appointments and ToDo’s – yet another first among productivity apps for the iPad. Let’s not forget SmartPlans, which is currently the #1 Project Planner for iPads on the App Store.  What does SmartPlans do that no other project planner does?  It allows you to actually plan out your projects in relation to each other by moving and resizing them on the Gantt screen.  An interactive chart then shows you how your projects “fit in” to your 40 hours work week (or how many hours you want to work). Our latest version now allows you to synchronize Tasks with Toodledo and, from there, drop them into SmartPad and SmartCal. Sweet!  I mean, Suite!
